Our current learning experience is...

Dragonology

Class 4 have taken the lead this term and would like to know more about dragons.

We've had some discussion already about whether they are real or not and why we no longer see them. Some pupils linked this to their previous topic and suggested they are so rare now due to pollution, deforestation and conflict with the human population.

We are hoping to have a visit from Zoo Lab who have some real life dragons as well as have an afternoon with mums and dads drawing these magnificant creatures.

Dragon Disaster!

This morning Miss Oliver had to make an early morning call to the police! When she arrived at school she found our classroom trashed! After looking at school CCTV footage, the police reported back that we had had a visit from a dragon!

On closer inspection of our class, we were shocked and amazed to find that our dragon visitor had laid a sparkly, scaly egg! How exciting! We were a little less impressed by the other 'present' she left us...poop!

Autumn Term 1

Here Today...Gone Tomorrow

Can you imagine a world without pandas, polar bears or penguins? Hopefully animals that we love to see today will still be there for future generations to enjoy tomorrow.

During this learning experience, we looked into the growing problem of endangered animals. Many animals are under threat of extinction and we looked into why they are endangered and what we can do to help.

As part of our literacy work, we researched an endangered animal of our choice. We then used various ICT programmes to present this information to an audience.

We also looked into how animals have adapted to live in particular climates, what they eat and how one change in a food chain can have devastating effects. We also designed our own weird and wonderful species and habitats.

In art and design we designed and made a model animal that looked like our favourite endangered animal.

Class Debate

We enjoyed taking on the role of hotel owners, villagers and local people opposing the new build of a hotel on their beach. Why? The green turtles nest on the beach and any development will destroy their nesting sites.

A good debate ensued!

Romero Britto Artwork

We have been looking at the art work of Romero Britto. He paints in bright colours but still makes the paintings recognisable. We had a go following his painting style when creating our self-portraits.

Please visit our Gallery Page to see a selection of of self portraits.

Our Cup Challenge

To help us further develop our Building Learning Power Muscles, Miss Oliver set us a 'Cup Challenge'. We couldn't touch the cups and could onle use elastic bands! It was tricky and needed a lot of collaboration, perseverance, planning and revising!

We had great fun!
